How & Why Pilates

I first heard of Pilates in 1997 and immediately recognized the potential of this method, and its ability to assist me in overcoming my issues with poor posture and back pain.  Soon afterwards, I started teacher training at Body Control Pilates Studio in London, England where I was living.  This training was interrupted by my move to Ottawa in 1998.  I was very disappointed to find that there was not much Pilates activity in Ottawa at that time.  Eventually, I connected with Pam Forth, when she opened her studio, and was able to resume my training.  This was followed by further training with Dianne Miller of Vancouver.

Pilates has completely changed my body – and my life! – in a very positive way.  The Franklin Method® is now helping me continue that journey, leading to even better posture, balance, alignment, breathing and energy.

Teaching Philosophy/Approach 

I like to share my enthusiasm for whole body health and to make learning enjoyable.  Teaching sound movement skills, with awareness of the integration of the body and mind is my aim.  I would like clients to gain a new understanding of at least one thing at each class, and to discover a joy in movement, hopefully leaving with the noticeable feeling of release and increased energy that comes from efficient movement.

 

Other Interests

Other interests include health and nutrition, walking, cycling, snow shoeing, music, meditation and Buddhism.
